The Design AirBnb of Our Dreams is Right in Our Backyard

As anyone living in a city can tell you, we're all desperately looking for a safe excursion into nature, a brook to call home, or an idyllic meadow to inhabit sustainably and possibly never return. Ahem, or maybe just a tent in the Berkshires where we can forget the current world for a long weekend.

If you're asking us, there's one place that hasn't left our minds since we saw it. It's an Airbnb design concept called PIECES Homes located on the coast of Maine, and the interiors are otherwordly. So, what makes it a concept? Most of the furniture and decor featured in the home is from a product line called PIECES, created by Brooklyn-based design firm An Aesthetic Pursuit. We think it's the perfect place for a design-forward stay, a photo-shoot, or anything in between.

Let's introduce you

Nestled on a quiet street in Kennebunkport, a classic looking New England exterior (with plenty of room for backyard lounging) leads you into a brightly-colored design wonderland.

From rainbow rugs to basketball court photography hung above a Grand Repos, there is a melding of so many different design personalities. A built-in breakfast nook would make any style happy though, right?

An Aesthetic Pursuit debuted this concept rental home in 2019 when they decided what better way to showcase their pieces and interior design prowess than in application.

They worked with partners on furnishing some aspects of the space, Artek being one of them, and we love the High Chair K95 bringing in some classic Finnish design.

Don't even get us started with how Vitra's Grand Repos and Ottoman looks against the PIECES Wavy Rug, plus one of our favorite sculptural lamps, the OO Lamp by Eny Lee Parker, is tucked in the corner.

It's a complete shoppable stay, from the furniture to the linens, and even the toiletries are available for pursuing post-stay on their online store.

Before this venture, PIECES was known for designs that were influenced by sports culture and courts, see their Half Court Rugs or coffee tables with fence graphics created by a mesh metal inner layer. Although we don't see too much of that sporty-spice mentality here, you can still find some athletic homage with the art peppered throughout rooms.

We're suckers for a bench at the end of the bed, especially when it's of the Artek variety. Plus, are those A110 Hand Grenade Pendants, we spy?

And who knew we'd like a glass box wall in a bedroom?

In every room, there are elements of heavy contrast, from the paint choices to geometric shapes colliding with organic forms. But if you thought this was strictly Memphis-adjacent fun, there are still quiet corners of the home like this bedroom offering a more neutral palette for your much deserved chill time.
