General Manager

Lekker Home, nationally acclaimed independent retailer and Boston’s largest showroom of modern design furniture and decor, seeks a General Manager (GM) who will be a key member of the Executive Management Team. In partnership with the Principal & Co-Founder, the GM will be a hands-on contributor in the shaping of company direction and operational policy. They will serve as the interdepartmental conduit, working in concert with the Sales, Merchandising, Buying, Marketing and eCommerce Teams. They will be responsible for managing the day-to-day execution of company goals and objectives with a core focus on sales. This position requires full time on-premise work and is based out of our 10,000 square foot showroom in downtown Boston.

What You'll Do
  • In partnership with the Principal, provide front line support and management of Sales while supporting and coordinating Merchandising, Buying, Marketing and eCommerce
  • Work with the Principal and Department Managers in recruiting, hiring, developing and retaining great people by driving a culture of happy, productive and engaged team members
  • Serve as sounding board and advocate for employees, departments and customers
  • Monitor sales pipeline, goals and other key performance indicators (KPI’s) while providing feedback and analysis to the Principal
  • Manage the showroom operations and sales team resources to maximize sales, floor coverage and customer engagement; adjust schedules as necessary
  • Accountable for team performance and leading-by-example through doing, teaching, coaching and providing meaningful and constructive feedback
  • Be a brand ambassador and have outstanding situational awareness of the competition and retail landscape we thrive in
  • Identify, take on and/or manage special projects
  • Seek, promote and embrace community involvement

What You Need to Have
  • Undergraduate degree (business, design or fashion related discipline a plus).
  • 3-5 years of management experience in a luxury or service driven environment.
  • Proven sales ability and track record
  • Ability to lift (at least 50 lbs), carry, push, pull, squat, kneel, twist, turn, climb ladders, crawl, reach, bend and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Availability for a flexible work schedule that meets the needs of the business, including evenings and weekend shifts.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Strong MAC operating system skills
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets
Not Required But Let Us Know if You Have
  • Prior entrepreneurial and/or GM experience (strong plus)
  • Experience with selling custom furniture or made to order items
  • eCommerce especially Adobe Magento 2 eCommerce
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) especially Acumatica ERP
  • We have a soft spot for Dutch but any additional languages to English are always of interest.
